Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Newport in 2016 compared to Hobsons Bay City shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 36.9% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 9.8% were one-parent families, compared with 32.7% and 10.8% respectively for Hobsons Bay City.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children.
