Dominant groups
Analysis of the male service age groups of the Rest of Sydney in 2021 compared to Hunters Hill Municipality shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 19.8% of the male population was aged between 0 and 17, and 20.1% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 24.2% and 27.1% respectively for Hunters Hill Municipality.
The major differences between the male age structure of the Rest of Sydney and Hunters Hill Municipality were:
- A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (17.0% compared to 7.7%)
- A larger percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (22.0% compared to 17.8%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Secondary schoolers' (6.5% compared to 11.0%)

From 2016 to 2021, Rest of Sydney's male population increased by 46,596 people (4.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.85% per year over the period.
The largest changes in the male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- Seniors (70 to 84) (+18,577 males)
- Parents and homebuilders (35 to 49) (+11,227 males)
- Empty nesters and retirees (60 to 69) (+8,707 males)
- Older workers and pre-retirees (50 to 59) (+8,208 males)
