Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the male population in the City of Sydney in 2021 compared to Western Sydney (LGA) shows that there was a higher proportion of males holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a lower proportion of males with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 69.0% of the male population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 21.1% had no qualifications, compared with 51.9% and 39.5% respectively for Western Sydney (LGA).

The major differences between qualifications held by the male population of the City of Sydney and Western Sydney (LGA) were:

  • A larger percentage of males with Bachelor or Higher degrees (50.5% compared to 24.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (9.2% compared to 8.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males with No qualifications (21.1% compared to 39.5%)
