Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Cumberland Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (9,491 females or 24.6%)
  • Education and Training (4,080 females or 10.6%)
  • Retail Trade (4,005 females or 10.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 17,576 females in total or 45.5% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Western Sydney (LGA) employed 22.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.8% in Education and Training; and 10.8% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Cumberland Council area and Western Sydney (LGA) were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (24.6% compared to 22.5%)
