Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Western Sydney (LGA) in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Construction (81,900 males or 14.1%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (56,044 males or 9.7%)
- Manufacturing (53,354 males or 9.2%)
In combination, these three industries employed 191,298 males in total or 33.0% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Inner West Council area employed 8.9% in Construction; 4.5% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 4.3% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Western Sydney (LGA) and Inner West Council area were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (9.7% compared to 4.5%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in construction (14.1% compared to 8.9%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in manufacturing (9.2% compared to 4.3%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.1% compared to 16.8%)

The number of employed males in Western Sydney (LGA) increased by 113,248 between 2006 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2006 and 2021 in Western Sydney (LGA) were for those employed in:
- Manufacturing (-25,294 males)
- Construction (+22,162 males)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+21,113 males)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+17,135 males)
