Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Parramatta in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (9,584 males or 14.7%)
  • Construction (6,377 males or 9.8%)
  • Retail Trade (5,347 males or 8.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 21,308 males in total or 32.6% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Hunters Hill Municipality employed 17.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 10.5% in Construction; and 6.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Parramatta and Hunters Hill Municipality were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (6.6% compared to 3.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (14.7% compared to 17.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (8.0% compared to 10.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in rental, hiring and real estate services (1.8% compared to 4.0%)

The number of employed males in City of Parramatta increased by 7,050 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Parramatta were for those employed in:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+1,898 males)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+1,313 males)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (+998 males)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+719 males)
