Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Sutherland Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (11,410 males or 19.2%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (5,725 males or 9.6%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (4,612 males or 7.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 21,747 males in total or 36.6% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Canada Bay employed 12.4% in Construction; 14.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 4.9% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Sutherland Shire and the City of Canada Bay were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (19.2% compared to 12.4%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (7.8% compared to 4.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (9.6% compared to 14.3%)
