Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types in the City of Parramatta in 2021 compared to Western Sydney (LGA) shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 35.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 9.0% were one-parent families, compared with 40.1% and 12.5% respectively for Western Sydney (LGA).
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 21.5% compared to 18.0% in Western Sydney (LGA) while the proportion of couples without children was 23.4% compared to 20.4% in Western Sydney (LGA).
