Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Inner West Council area in 2021 compared to the City of Sydney shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 24.8% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.1% were one-parent families, compared with 10.3% and 4.3% respectively for the City of Sydney.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 29.2% compared to 38.3% in the City of Sydney while the proportion of couples without children was 25.7% compared to 28.2% in the City of Sydney.
