Analysis of the household/family types in Penrith City in 2021 compared to the City of Parramatta shows that there was a similar proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 35.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 14.0% were one-parent families, compared with 35.5% and 9.0% respectively for the City of Parramatta.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 20.7% compared to 21.5% in the City of Parramatta while the proportion of couples without children was 21.3% compared to 23.4% in the City of Parramatta.
The number of households in Penrith City increased by 15,686 between 2011 and 2021.
