Analysis of the household/family types in The Hills Shire in 2021 compared to the City of Canterbury Bankstown shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 52.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.5% were one-parent families, compared with 37.3% and 13.3% respectively for the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 11.9% compared to 20.0% in the City of Canterbury Bankstown while the proportion of couples without children was 23.4% compared to 18.6% in the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
