Dominant groups
Analysis of the country of birth of the population in the Rest of Sydney in 2021 compared to Western Sydney (LGA) shows that there was a smaller proportion of people born overseas.
Overall, 39.4% of the population was born overseas, compared with 40.9% for Western Sydney (LGA).
The largest non-English speaking country of birth in the Rest of Sydney was China, where 6.2% of the population, or 141,728 people, were born.
The major differences between the countries of birth of the population in the Rest of Sydney and Western Sydney (LGA) were:
