Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Western Sydney (LGA) compared to Western Sydney (LGA) shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in the City of Sydney and Western Sydney (LGA) were:
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (15.7% compared to 23.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (28.8% compared to 35.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (46.4% compared to 53.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (10.1% compared to 16.3%)

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Sydney were in the age groups:

- 80 to 84 (+131 persons)
- 85 and over (+112 persons)
