Analysis of the family blending in the City of Canning in 2021 compared to St James shows that there was a lower proportion of step families as well as a lower proportion of blended families. Overall, 9.3% of total couple families with children were step families, and 2.1% were blended families, compared with 13.7% and 2.7% respectively for St James.
There were a similar proportion of other families and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of other families was 0.5% compared to 0.0% in St James while the proportion of intact families was 88.1% compared to 83.7% in St James.
