Dominant groups
Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 18 to 24 years in the City of Burnside in 2021 compared to South Australia shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, as well as a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).
Overall, 77.7% of people aged 18 to 24 years spoke English only, and 20.7% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 76.3% and 19.2% respectively for South Australia.
Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 18 to 24 years in the City of Burnside was Mandarin, with 6.2% of the population, or 228 people speaking this language at home.
