Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 75 to 84 years in the City of Burnside in 2021 compared to Greater Adelaide, shows that there was a lower proportion of people aged 75 to 84 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 6.1% of people aged 75 to 84 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 3.6% were in one-parent families, compared with 7.3% and 5.4% respectively for Greater Adelaide.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 75 to 84 years in lone person households and a higher proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 75 to 84 years in lone person households was 28.7% compared to 30.2% in Greater Adelaide while the proportion of couples without children was 58.4% compared to 52.6% in Greater Adelaide.
