Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Hawthorn in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,092 people or 17.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,456 people or 12.1%)
  • Education and Training (1,088 people or 9.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,636 people in total or 38.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Boroondara employed 15.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 13.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.1% in Education and Training.
