Dominant groups
Analysis of the highest level of schooling attained by the male population in Regional SA in 2021 compared to Victoria shows that there was a higher proportion of males who had left school at an early level (Year 10 or less) and a lower proportion of males who completed Year 12 or equivalent.
Overall, 35.9% of the male population left school at Year 10 or below, and 33.6% went on to complete Year 12 or equivalent, compared with 24.7% and 57.6% respectively for Victoria.
The major differences between the level of schooling attained by the male population in Regional SA and Victoria were:
- A larger percentage of males who completed year 11 or equivalent (22.1% compared to 11.5%)
- A larger percentage of males who completed year 10 or equivalent (21.6% compared to 13.5%)
- A larger percentage of males who completed year 9 or equivalent (7.6% compared to 5.7%)
- A smaller percentage of males who completed year 12 or equivalent (33.6% compared to 57.6%)
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the level of schooling attained by the male population in Regional SA, between 2016 and 2021 were:
- Year 12 or equivalent (+8,049 males)
- Year 10 or equivalent (+2,065 males)
- Year 8 or below (-1,691 males)
- Year 11 or equivalent (+1,510 males)
