Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the male population in Regional WA in 2021 compared to Regional TAS shows that there was a lower proportion of males holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), as well as a lower proportion of males with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 46.0% of the male population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 39.7% had no qualifications, compared with 48.7% and 42.4% respectively for Regional TAS.

The major differences between qualifications held by the male population of Regional WA and Regional TAS were:

  • A larger percentage of males with Vocational qualifications (30.4% compared to 29.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males with Bachelor or Higher degrees (9.6% compared to 13.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males with No qualifications (39.7% compared to 42.4%)

Emerging groups

The largest changes in the qualifications of the male population in Regional WA between 2006 and 2021 were in those with:

  • Vocational qualifications (+20,687 males)
  • Bachelor or Higher degrees (+8,741 males)
  • Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+5,344 males)
  • No qualifications (+2,400 males)
