Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Regional SA in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (19,697 males or 22.5%)
- Managers (18,375 males or 21.0%)
- Labourers (15,734 males or 18.0%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 53,806 males in total or 61.5% of the employed male resident population.
In comparison, Victoria employed 20.3% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 16.5% in Managers; and 10.9% in Labourers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Regional SA and Victoria were:
- A larger percentage of males employed as Labourers (18.0% compared to 10.9%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Managers (21.0% compared to 16.5%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (14.2% compared to 9.9%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Professionals (8.4% compared to 21.4%)

The number of employed males in Regional SA increased by 3,022 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2016 and 2021 in Regional SA were for those employed as:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (+1,024 males)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+616 males)
- Managers (+397 males)
- Professionals (+221 males)
