Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Greater Brisbane in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (136,205 males or 21.4%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (127,295 males or 20.0%)
  • Managers (92,915 males or 14.6%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 356,415 males in total or 56.1% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 22.4% in Professionals; 19.3% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 17.0% in Managers.

The major difference between the jobs held by the male population of Greater Brisbane and New South Wales was:

  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Managers (14.6% compared to 17.0%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Greater Brisbane increased by 155,074 between 2006 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2006 and 2021 in Greater Brisbane were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+49,073 males)
