Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Greater Hobart in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (19,998 people or 16.8%)
  • Education and Training (12,473 people or 10.5%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (11,826 people or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 44,297 people in total or 37.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Australia employed 14.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.8% in Education and Training; and 6.6% in Public Administration and Safety.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Greater Hobart and Australia were:
