Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Greater Capital Cities in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (876,136 females or 22.5%)
  • Education and Training (506,332 females or 13.0%)
  • Retail Trade (399,534 females or 10.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,782,002 females in total or 45.9% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 21.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.0% in Education and Training; and 10.7% in Retail Trade.

There were no major differences between Greater Capital Cities and Greater Melbourne in 2021.
