Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Greater Hobart in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (14,985 females or 25.4%)
  • Education and Training (8,558 females or 14.5%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (6,418 females or 10.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 29,961 females in total or 50.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Western Australia employed 22.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.8% in Education and Training; and 5.9% in Public Administration and Safety.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Greater Hobart and Western Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in public administration and safety (10.9% compared to 5.9%)
