Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of Greater Brisbane in 2021 compared to Western Australia shows that there was a higher proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 20.2% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.6% and 15.3% respectively for Western Australia.

The major differences between the male age structure of Greater Brisbane and Western Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 20 to 24 (7.1% compared to 6.1%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (7.4% compared to 6.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 15 to 19 (6.5% compared to 5.9%)
