Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of Australian Capital Territory in 2021 compared to Victoria shows that there was a similar proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 19.1% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.8% and 15.7% respectively for Victoria.
The major differences between the male age structure of Australian Capital Territory and Victoria were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (8.8% compared to 7.5%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 20 to 24 (7.6% compared to 6.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (3.9% compared to 4.8%)

From 2016 to 2021, Australian Capital Territory's male population increased by 28,596 people (14.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 2.77% per year over the period.
The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 25 to 29 (+3,791 males)
- 35 to 39 (+3,307 males)
- 10 to 14 (+2,620 males)
- 30 to 34 (+2,474 males)
