Dominant groups
Analysis of the female five year age groups of South Australia in 2021 compared to Greater Hobart shows that there was a similar proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.3% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 21.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.0% and 20.0% respectively for Greater Hobart.
The major differences between the female age structure of South Australia and Greater Hobart were:
- A smaller percentage of females aged 25 to 29 (6.4% compared to 7.8%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 30 to 34 (6.6% compared to 7.9%)
