In 2021, the largest age group in Regional VIC was 60 to 64 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2011 was 70 to 74 year olds, increasing by 19,620 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of Regional VIC in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a similar proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a similar proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 16.9% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 22.5% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.1% and 22.8% respectively for Regional NSW.

There were no major differences between Regional VIC and Regional NSW in 2021.

Emerging groups

From 2011 to 2021, Regional VIC's female population increased by 122,536 people (18.1%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.68% per year over the period.
