Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of Greater Adelaide in 2021 compared to South Australia shows that there was a similar proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 18.1% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 17.0% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.8% and 18.6% respectively for South Australia.

The major difference between the male age structure of Greater Adelaide and South Australia is:

  • A smaller percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (5.0% compared to 5.6%)
