Dominant groups
Analysis of the share of the population attending educational institutions in New South Wales in 2021 compared to Tasmania shows that there was a similar proportion attending primary school, a higher proportion attending secondary school, and a higher proportion engaged in tertiary level education.
Overall, 8.1% of the population were attending primary school, 6.3% of the population were attending secondary institutions, and 7.2% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 8.1%, 5.8% and 6.2% respectively for Tasmania.
The major differences between the share of the population attending learning institutions in New South Wales and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of persons attending University (4.7% compared to 3.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons not attending (69.6% compared to 72.3%)
