Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Greater Perth in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- English (784,948 people or 37.1%)
- Australian (593,241 people or 28.0%)
- Irish (186,796 people or 8.8%)
- Scottish (183,804 people or 8.7%)
- Italian (116,535 people or 5.5%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 1,865,324 responses in total, or 88.13% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Greater Perth and Regional Australia were:
