Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Whittlesea in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (11,410 females or 22.7%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (10,838 females or 21.6%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (9,811 females or 19.6%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 32,059 females in total or 63.9% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, Thomastown employed 18.0% in Professionals; 18.1% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 20.2% in Community and Personal Service Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Whittlesea and Thomastown were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (22.7% compared to 18.0%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (21.6% compared to 18.1%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Managers (7.9% compared to 6.4%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Labourers (7.2% compared to 13.0%)

The number of employed females in City of Whittlesea increased by 9,372 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Whittlesea were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+3,215 females)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+2,549 females)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (+1,220 females)
- Managers (+1,037 females)
