Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Mernda in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,192 males or 17.8%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (656 males or 9.8%)
  • Manufacturing (648 males or 9.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,496 males in total or 37.3% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Whittlesea employed 18.9% in Construction; 10.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 10.9% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Mernda and the City of Whittlesea were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (7.6% compared to 6.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (9.7% compared to 10.9%)
