Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Epping in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,256 people or 15.0%)
  • Retail Trade (1,639 people or 10.9%)
  • Construction (1,588 people or 10.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,483 people in total or 36.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Whittlesea employed 15.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.3% in Retail Trade; and 11.4% in Construction.

The major difference between the jobs held by the population of Epping and the City of Whittlesea was:

  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (6.6% compared to 7.7%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Epping increased by 5,504 between 2006 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2006 and 2021 in Epping were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+1,366 persons)
  • Construction (+718 persons)
  • Education and Training (+564 persons)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+503 persons)
