Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Epping in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,256 people or 15.0%)
  • Retail Trade (1,639 people or 10.9%)
  • Construction (1,588 people or 10.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,483 people in total or 36.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Woodstock - Eden Park - Beveridge employed 10.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 7.2% in Retail Trade; and 22.4% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Epping and Woodstock - Eden Park - Beveridge were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (15.0% compared to 10.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.9% compared to 7.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (10.6% compared to 22.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (0.4% compared to 2.8%)

The number of employed people in Epping increased by 666 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Epping were for those employed in:

  • Construction (+312 persons)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+306 persons)

  • Manufacturing (-175 persons)
