More Epping female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Epping in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,799 females or 26.0%)
  • Retail Trade (905 females or 13.1%)
  • Education and Training (755 females or 10.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,459 females in total or 49.9% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Thomastown employed 23.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.4% in Retail Trade; and 9.1% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Epping and Thomastown were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (26.0% compared to 23.9%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (10.9% compared to 9.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in manufacturing (5.2% compared to 7.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in administrative and support services (4.0% compared to 5.1%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Epping increased by 1,336 between 2011 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2011 and 2021 in Epping were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+687 females)
  • Education and Training (+303 females)
  • Manufacturing (-144 females)
  • Public Administration and Safety (+101 females)
