Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Mernda in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,043 males or 17.6%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (575 males or 9.7%)
  • Manufacturing (569 males or 9.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,187 males in total or 36.9% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Bundoora employed 15.9% in Construction; 8.1% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 9.5% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Mernda and Bundoora were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (17.6% compared to 15.9%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (9.7% compared to 8.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.1% compared to 8.0%)
