Analysis of individual income levels in Tamworth Regional Council in 2016 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a lower proportion of people earning a high income (those earning $1,750 per week or more) as well as a lower proportion of low income people (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 7.3% of the population earned a high income, and 37.1% earned a low income, compared with 8.3% and 40.0% respectively for Regional NSW.
The major differences between Tamworth Regional Council's individual incomes and Regional NSW's individual incomes were:
- A larger percentage of persons who earned $800 - $999 (9.9% compared to 8.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons who earned $1,000 - $1,249 (8.6% compared to 7.6%)
- A larger percentage of persons who earned $650 - $799 (9.2% compared to 8.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who earned $150 - $299 (7.0% compared to 7.7%)
