Oxley Vale is located to the north-west of the Tamworth CBD. Oxley Vale is bounded by a line running continuous of Browns Lane and Browns Lane in the north, the locality of North Tamworth in the east, and the Peel River in the south and west.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1830s. Growth was minimal until the late 1800s. Significant development occurred from the post-war years, particularly from the 1960s. The population generally increased from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area.
