Westdale - Taminda is located to the west of the Tamworth CBD. Westdale - Taminda is bounded by the Peel River in the north, the railway line, Gunnedah Road, the Oxley Highway and the locality of West Tamworth in the east, the locality of Warral and Heiligmans Lane in the south, and Duri Wallamore Road and Bowlers Lane in the west.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s. Growth was minimal until the late 1800s and early 1900s. Significant residential development occurred from the post-war years, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s, aided by industrial growth. The population increased substantially from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area.
