Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Foster and surrounds in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (75 males or 18.2%)
  • Construction (49 males or 11.9%)
  • Retail Trade (32 males or 7.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 156 males in total or 37.9% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, South Gippsland Shire employed 19.5% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 17.7% in Construction; and 6.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Foster and surrounds and South Gippsland Shire were:
