Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in South Gippsland Shire in 2016 compared to Regional VIC shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 24.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.2% were one-parent families, compared with 25.3% and 10.1% respectively for Regional VIC.

There were a similar proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.8% compared to 27.0% in Regional VIC while the proportion of couples without children was 30.2% compared to 27.1% in Regional VIC.
