Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in South West Coastal District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (142 females or 21.9%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (101 females or 15.6%)
  • Education and Training (80 females or 12.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 323 females in total or 49.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, South Gippsland Shire employed 23.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 12.2% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the South West Coastal District and South Gippsland Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (15.6% compared to 10.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.9% compared to 4.7%)
