Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the South West Coastal District in 2021 compared to South Gippsland Shire shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 21.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 6.2% were one-parent families, compared with 23.2% and 8.3% respectively for South Gippsland Shire.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 27.0% compared to 27.6% in South Gippsland Shire while the proportion of couples without children was 32.4% compared to 31.0% in South Gippsland Shire.
