Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wellington Point in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (991 people or 14.9%)
- Construction (710 people or 10.6%)
- Education and Training (642 people or 9.6%)
In combination, these three industries employed 2,343 people in total or 35.1% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Thorneside employed 14.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.7% in Construction; and 9.1% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wellington Point and Thorneside were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (6.1% compared to 4.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in administrative and support services (2.9% compared to 4.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.6% compared to 7.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (6.1% compared to 7.4%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2006 and 2021 in Wellington Point were for those employed in:

- Manufacturing (-232 persons)
- Education and Training (+204 persons)
- Construction (+146 persons)
