Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wellington Point in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (991 people or 14.9%)
  • Construction (710 people or 10.6%)
  • Education and Training (642 people or 9.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,343 people in total or 35.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Thorneside employed 14.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.7% in Construction; and 9.1% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wellington Point and Thorneside were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (6.1% compared to 4.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in administrative and support services (2.9% compared to 4.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.6% compared to 7.0%)
