The size of Redland City's labour force in 2011 was 71,827, of which 23,550 were employed part-time and 43,063 were full time workers.

Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) in Redland City in 2011 compared to Greater Brisbane shows that there was a similar proportion in employment, as well as a similar proportion unemployed. Overall, 94.6% of the labour force was employed (61.3% of the population aged 15+), and 5.4% unemployed (3.5% of the population aged 15+), compared with 94.1% and 5.9% respectively for Greater Brisbane.
