There were more female community and personal service workers in the Shire of Murray in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Shire of Murray in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Community and Personal Service Workers (706 females or 20.2%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (613 females or 17.5%)
  • Professionals (519 females or 14.9%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,838 females in total or 52.6% of the employed female resident population.

In comparison, Pinjarra - West Pinjarra (part) employed 22.2% in Community and Personal Service Workers; 15.3% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 14.5% in Professionals.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the Shire of Murray and Pinjarra - West Pinjarra (part) were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed as Managers (9.6% compared to 6.8%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (17.5% compared to 15.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed as Labourers (10.4% compared to 12.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (20.2% compared to 22.2%)

The number of employed females in Shire of Murray increased by 542 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in the Shire of Murray were for those employed as:

  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+188 females)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (+101 females)
  • Managers (+66 females)
  • Professionals (+56 females)
