Location and boundaries

Ravenswood is bounded by Rogers Road, Paterson Road and the locality of Nambeelup in the north, the locality of North Dandalup, the railway line and the locality of Fairbridge in the east, the locality of Pinjarra, Champion Retreat, Paterson Road, the Murray River, the locality of Pinjarra, Pinjarra Road and Beacham Road in the south, and the locality of South Yunderup, Pinjarra Road and the locality of Barragup in the west.

Name origin

Ravenswood is named after an original property in the area which was called Ravenswood Farm.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1840s, with land used mainly for farming. Some growth took place during the late 1800s. Significant development did not occur until the 1960s when land was subdivided. The population increased substantially from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area, with the most significant growth between 2006 and 2011.

Land use

Ravenswood is a predominantly rural area, with growing residential and rural-residential areas. Rural land is used mainly for grazing.
