Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Shire of Murray in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Manufacturing (804 people or 13.8%)
  • Construction (781 people or 13.4%)
  • Retail Trade (596 people or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,181 people in total or 37.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 8.5% in Manufacturing; 10.0% in Construction; and 10.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Shire of Murray and Greater Perth were:
