Dominant groups
Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Vietnamese speaking population of the City of Melton in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a similar proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a smaller proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).
Overall, 69.8% of the overseas born Vietnamese speaking population arrived before 2010, and 10.9% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 70.2% and 14.0% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Vietnamese speaking population of the City of Melton and Greater Melbourne were:
